What is The Original Yummy Mummy (TOYM)

In 2018, I decided that I wanted to create a platform where I could inspire, help, and advise people; but I wanted to be more intentional with this, so for the past 18 months I worked through and narrowed down exactly what I wanted people to get out of coming on this site - thus The Original Yummy Mummy was born!

Being "The Original Yummy Mummy," goes far beyond 'looking good for someone who has had a baby/child' (we have all used the term 'yummy mummy' to describe a mum at one point or another); it is about self-love, looking your best, being your best, feeling your best and whatever YOUR version of being The Original Yummy Mummy is. It is about celebrating yourself and other women, more importantly, other mothers. WE can be our own hype women, and strive to be the best versions of ourselves, whilst encouraging that for others too.

Mums wear so many different hats and sometimes it can be a bit lonely, or feel like there's no one that you can truly talk to about things that you are going through, because you have to maintain the 'I've got everything under control' act. I've gone through this many times myself (honestly, it's something I have to constantly work on), and have often not been able to open up to anyone about it. I've found that sometimes it's easier to talk to someone that isn't a family member or a close friend; not just because I've not wanted to be a burden by putting 'my stuff' on them; but because they don't have any preconceived opinions and can just give unbiased advice based on what I've told them. I want to build connections with all of you and be someone that you can share the good, bad and the ugly with, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you also.

I want to empower and celebrate mothers, because those are some of the strongest women I've ever met - and many don't even know their own strength. I also want to talk about topics that can sometimes feel uncomfortable to talk about. In a society that has many stereotypes on who the Black Mother is, I want to redefine this and support the healing that allows other mothers to do so too.

I hope that The Original Yummy Mummy will bring you happiness, support, advice, laughter, friendship and be a safe place for you to ask questions that you may not be able to ask those around you.
